Mulvaney previously served as a member of the South Carolina Senate, representing the 16th district (Lancaster and York Counties), from 2009 to 2011. He is the first Republican to represent South Carolina's 5th district since 1883. He was apponted by Donald Trump to be the Director of the Office of Managment and Budget.
