Tony Blair His WMD program is active, detailed and growing ...Iraq has chemical and biological weapons ... Saddam has continued to produce them...
Dick Cheney There is no doubt that Saddam Hussein now has weapons of mass destruction. There is no doubt he is amassing them to use against our friends, against our allies, and against us.
George W. Bush This is a guy that tried to kill my dad at one time.
Wafa Sultan When Saddam Hussein buried 300,000 Shiites and Kurds alive, we did not hear a single Muslim protesting. Your silence served to acknowledge the legitimacy of these killings
Raphael Bidawid Iraq is more democratic than America. You have divorce. You have abortion. But, thanks to President Saddam Hussein, Iraqi Christians are forbidden to have abortions or to divorce. So I enjoy all my rights—much more than in so-called democratic countries.
George W. Bush This will not stand!
Louis Farrakhan Saddam Hussein is no more terrible than Bush. He’s no more terrible than Bush’s father. No more terrible than Clinton.

Anthony Zinni Containment worked. Look at Saddam – what did he have?... He didn’t threaten anyone in the region. He was contained. He was a pain in the ass, but he was contained. He had a deteriorated military. He wasn’t a threat to the region... We contained day-to-day, with fewer troops than go to work every day at the Pentagon
Anthony Zinni I think a weakened, fragmented, chaotic Iraq, which could happen if this isn’t done carefully, is more dangerous in the long run than a contained Saddam is now.
Dick Cheney We should not act as if we were an imperialist power, willy-nilly moving into capitals in that part of the world, taking down governments.

Anthony Zinni There are no weapons of mass destruction programs in Iraq. There may be some isolated weapons, though I doubt even that, but no programs as you and I would think of them.
Donald Rumsfeld We know they have weapons of mass destruction. We know they have active programs. There isn’t any debate about it.
George W. Bush We cannot let our enemies strike first. The overlap between states that sponsor terror and those that pursue WMD compels us to action... To forestall or prevent such hostile acts by our adversaries, the United States will, if necessary act preemptively
Lawrence Eagleburger Unless the president can make a very compelling case that Saddam Hussein has his finger on a weapon of mass destruction and is about ready to use it, I do not think that now is the time to go to war against Saddam Hussein.
Michel Aflaq Arab nationalism is not a theory but the source of all theories
Michel Aflaq Nationalism is spiritual and all-embracing, in the sense that it opens its arms to and spreads its wings over all those who have shared with the Arabs their history and have lived in the environment of their language and culture for generations, so that they have become Arab in thought and feeling. There is no fear that nationalism will clash with religion, for, like religion, it flows from the heart and issues from the will of God; they walk arm in arm, supporting each other, especially when religion represents the genius of the nationality and is in harmony with its nature.
Michel Aflaq Communism is Western, and alien to everything Arab, having absolutely no connection to Arab history, intellectual traditions, and way of life in either the past or the present
Michel Aflaq If I was asked to define socialism, I would not seek its definition in the texts of Marx or Lenin. I would rather say: it is the religion of life, and the triumph of life over death. By opening the door of employment for everyone, and allowing the gifts and virtues of all human beings to blossom, flower and be fruitful, it preserves what rightfully belongs to life, leaving death nothing but dried meat and rotten bones.
Michel Aflaq A day will come when the nationalists will find themselves the only defenders of Islam. They will have to give a special meaning to it if they want the Arab nation to have a good reason for survival.
Dinesh D'Souza We are caught in the Middle East in supporting the bad guys in order to get rid of the worse guys.
Rush Limbaugh And now the liberals want to stop President Reagan from selling chemical warfare agents and military equipment to Saddam Hussein and why? Because Saddam 'allegedly' gassed a few Kurds in his own country. Mark my words. All of this talk of Saddam Hussein being a 'war criminal' or 'committing crimes against humanity' is the same old thing. LIBERAL HATE SPEECH!
Dick Cheney The question in my mind then is how many additional American casualties is Saddam worth? And the answer is not very damned many.
Saud Al-Feisal Saddam Hussein was not the cause of the problems of Iraq. He was the symptom of the problems of Iraq.
Bernard Kouchner Saddam Hussein was perhaps the most bloodthirsty dictator after Hitler and Stalin. We can defend the oil of Kuwait, but not the people of Iraq.
Dick Cheney Are you going to take care of this guy or not?
Ehud Barak If one single chemical warhead falls on Israel, we’ll hit Iraq with everything we have got. . . . look at your watch and forty minutes later an Iraqi city will be reduced to ashes.
Richard A. Gephardt We have to deal with it diplomatically if we can, militarily if we must.
Susan Sontag People do these things to other people. Not just in Nazi concentration camps and in Abu Ghraib when it was run by Saddam Hussein. Americans, too, do them when they have permission. When they are told or made to feel that those over whom they have absolute power deserve to be mistreated, humiliated, tormented. They do them when they are led to believe that the people they are torturing belong to an inferior, despicable race or religion. For the meaning of these pictures is not just that these acts were performed, but that their perpetrators had no sense that there was anything wrong in what the pictures show.
John Kerry What we need now is not just a regime change in Saddam Hussein and Iraq, but we need a regime change in the United States.
Philip Agee … in the decade since the end of the Cold War until September 11th, the US security establishment - the political class, the CIA, the people who fought the Cold War - had no real enemy to focus on. True, they had Saddam Hussein for a while, and they might have had a minor enemy here, another one there. But there was no real worldwide threat similar to that of the Cold War. Well, now it seems that they have one again. What this means is that the United States is going to be in this for quite some time. I have feeling that it is going to go on for ten or 15 years.
Ali Saleh Saadi We came to power on a CIA train.
Stephen Hadley Thinking back, I now wonder if our mistake may have been in not considering whether the reason Saddam Hussein was so secretive about his weapons of mass destruction capabilities was not because he had the weapons and wanted to conceal them, but because he did not have them and he wanted to hide that.
